The American Library Association (2006) defines information literary as a set of abilities requiring individuals to recognize when information is needed and have the ability to locate and use effectively the needed information
*Information literacy* is also defined as self-empowering attitude and commitment by individuals and people at all levels of the society to seek, access, analyse, translate and transform
Information literacy skills consists of;
1. Media literacy
2. Alphabetical literacy
3. Network literacy
4. Numerical literacy
5. Library education
6. Cultural literacy
7. Computer literacy.

*TYPES OF INFORMATION SOURCES*
1. Primary (have not been interpreted by anyone. e.g Diaries, drama, stories, e.t.c)
2. Secondary (interpreting original material e.g reviews, textbooks, scholarly books)
3. Tertiary. (Analyse and interpret primary source e.g textbook, dictionaries, books)
*THE LIBRARY*
This is regarded as one of the oldest institutions in the world. It is described as a place where knowledge in various format is acquired, systematically arranged and readily made available and accessible to information seekers
The Library can also be defined as a collection of published material including audio-visual resources, processed and organized by qualified and competent staff
The word library is from a Latin word " *liber* " meaning *book*
The library is the heart❤️ of the university/institution

It is established by federal or central government of a nation to serve as reference and research centers for national information.
*National Library* serves as depositories for all publications written on the life of a nation by her citizens and non-national
